I'm trying something new again this week! I looked at the drink menu from Penny's and the Matcha Latte stood out to me. There wasn't a description on the menu, but it seemed light and simple, so I ordered it. What was my first impression? It was lightly sweetened and creamy. It was warm, smelled earthy, and healthy. However, it did have a slight powdery texture to it.
With a little research, I learned that traditional matcha is made by grounding semi-processed green tea leaves with special stone mills. Thus, the powdery texture I described. You should all google it. It's quite an intense process! There is no coffee in matcha. But green tea does contain caffeine. So it'll give you a kick of energy to start out your day!
I guess you can say that I don't have a big appreciation for it's unique production and taste. It just isn't my thing. I think I prefer green tea in it's normal leaf form, like in traditional tea bag. Ok, fine. I'll take green tea ice cream, too! But don't be negatively swayed by my experience. Give it a try. You might like it! ❤
